Violence against women and girls is a systemic and deep-rooted problem in our society. It is a problem that is hidden in plain sight and every day we see how it is affecting the lives of women and girls, wherever they learn, live, and work.
Ending Violence Against Women and Girls (EVAWG) is a seven year programme mandated by the Northern Ireland Executive which will address the whole range of gender-based violence, abuse and harm which is disproportionately experienced by women and girls, and which is rooted in gender inequality.
There is something everyone can do. Let’s get started.
Power to Change
The Power to Change campaign urges men and boys to help play their part in affecting a cultural and societal shift.
The PSNI has launched this campaign to address misogynistic male behaviour and cultures and consists of two important threads:
-
Challenging attitudes & behaviours - calling on men to consider their responsibility and how their actions can affect other people.
-
“Active Bystanders” - empowering men and the wider community with the knowledge and skills to intervene when they see someone carrying out inappropriate actions or making unwanted comments.
Local Change Fund
The Local Change Fund is a local grant scheme which aims to support Community and Voluntary Sector organisations to develop and deliver projects, programmes and/or initiatives that help to prevent violence against women and girls.
Applications will open later in 2025.
