Positive Ageing Month Celebrated In October

Throughout October, Positive Ageing Month will celebrate the contribution that Mid Ulster’s older citizens make to their local communities.

With a mix of events to enable older people to connect both virtually through online events and physically there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

Chair of Mid Ulster District Council, Councillor Eugene McConnell welcomed the extensive programme events throughout the month saying,

The aim of Positive Ageing Month is to reduce the loneliness and isolation that many older adults face. With the elderly population in the Mid-Ulster area increasing each year, there is a growing need for greater support in health, wellbeing, and financial advice, all of which are included in this wonderful line-up of Fantastic events. These events not only promote health and wellness but also foster a sense of community and belonging, ensuring that every participant feels valued and supported.

The programme starts on International Day of Older Persons, on Tuesday 1st October.

The Mid Ulster-based activities include many low-cost sessions from fitness classes designed to enhance strength, balance, and overall well-being, to engaging workshops that spark creativity and learning, the offerings are as varied as they are enriching.

Whether it’s hand-pouring seasonal candles, crafting beautiful autumnal wreaths, or participating in informative online sessions about financial well-being and digital changes, there’s something for everyone.
Mid Ulster District Council invites all seniors to join in these celebrations, embrace
