"Meet the Experts" Event Inspires Mid Ulster District Council Tourism and Hospitality Businesses to Unlock their Growth Potential

Over 30 tourism and hospitality businesses recently took part in an exclusive "Meet the Experts" event organised by Mid Ulster District Council.  The event was an unique opportunity for  local tourism businesses to directly engage with industry professionals and experts to gain invaluable insights into the latest global tourism trends, challenges, opportunities and innovations to help grow their business, drive success and attract visitors to the region.

Local tourism and hospitality businesses met face to face, shared information and gained invaluable insights from industry experts from organisations including Tourism Northern Ireland, Tourism Ireland, Innovate NI, Go Succeed and ProfileTree.  

Areas of discussion included developments in tourism, sustainability, inclusivity, digital transformation. Through talks, panel discussions and ones to ones, attendees gained skills and insights including e-learning, attracting and retaining staff, global marketing opportunities, networking opportunities and applying successful innovation frameworks for growth.

Attendees also had the opportunity to explore new technologies and how to use these to optimum benefit, especially leveraging AI to enhance efficiency, customer experience, and marketing activities.  There was also key learnings and insights from the recently launched Mid Ulster visitor experience - Gorta, Swatragh’s Famine Story.

Mid Ulster District Council tourism team provided details on the range of support initiatives available to local tourism businesses including future business engagement programmes and an exclusive viewing of the forthcoming autumn/winter campaign running from 21st October until 4th November 2024 featuring the Visit Mid Ulster tourism brand Unwinding Time.

Deputy Chair of Mid Ulster District Council, Councillor Wesley Brown, said:
