Become an Employer of Choice in Mid Ulster with LMP
Mid Ulster Labour Market Partnership (LMP) is offering local businesses the opportunity to ‘Become an Employer of Choice in Mid Ulster’ with a free event at the Royal Hotel, Cookstown on Thursday 13 June.
The event aims to equip employers with actionable information and tools that will help them attract and retain top talent, to move towards becoming an employer of choice. It will also be used to launch the Mid Ulster LMP Employer Support Toolkit.
Kicking off with a networking breakfast at 8.30am, the event will start with Paul Clark as compere at 9am. Two panel discussions will take place on Creating a Positive and Healthy Workplace and Removing Barriers, with a breakout session offering a choice of two workshops, on either Managing Change or Leadership Style and Communication Skills.
Panelists will include local successful businesses, Bloc Blinds, Edge Innovate, Linden Foods and Translink, as well as organisations including, the Department for Economy, Condition Management Programme, Disability Action and the Employer Services Branch. The event will finish at 11.15am
Chair of Mid Ulster District Council, Councillor Dominic Molloy is encouraging Mid Ulster employers to sign up, he said:
Mid Ulster has a wealth of talent to offer our local businesses and employers, but there are many attractive employment opportunities outside of the district. It is important that we encourage our talent to stay here, by becoming an employer of choice and offering attractive employment opportunities and working environments, which will also help to retain staff. I encourage our businesses to sign up for this free event now while spaces are available.
Chair Of Mid Ulster LMP, Damian Power said,
“In today’s economic landscape, becoming a better employer isn't solely about the salaries you offer but also other factors such as company culture, inclusivity, career development, employee experience, engagement with staff and leadership styles. Employers of Choice are often known for removing barriers in the workplace and so Mid Ulster employers should look to attracting the economically inactive demographic, Mid Ulster’s largest labour pool, by offering attractive working terms, conditions, benefits and reasonable adjustments. This event touches on all of this and I feel it will be hugely valuable to employers in the district.”
