Mid Ulster Jobs and Apprenticeship Fair to be held during Apprenticeship Week

This year’s Mid Ulster Jobs and Apprenticeship Fair, organised by Mid Ulster Labour Market Partnership in collaboration with the Department for Communities, will take place during Apprenticeship Week 2024, 5 – 11 February.

The event will take place in the Burnavon Theatre, Cookstown, on Thursday 8 February from 12pm until 3pm. Admission is free.

Funded by the Department for Communities, Labour Market Partnerships create targeted employment action plans for council areas, allowing for collaboration at local and regional level to support people towards, and into work.

Over 45 employers will take part in the Jobs and Apprenticeship Fair, with representatives from a range of employment sectors on hand to answer questions and discuss employment and apprenticeship opportunities. A wide range of support organisations will also be in attendance.

The Jobs and Apprenticeship Fair aims to offer people who are seeking employment the opportunity to meet a range of prospective employers and apply for work.  Over 200 vacancies will be available to apply for on the day across a wide range of sectors.

The event, which is being held during Apprenticeship Week 2024, also provides residents and local employers the opportunity for face-to-face conversations in regards All Age Apprenticeships.

Following the removal of age limits in September 2023, Apprenticeships now provide more careers options open to people of all ages, supporting inclusion and a culture of lifelong learning.

Chair of Mid Ulster District Council Councillor Dominic Molloy said:

Mid Ulster has the largest business base outside Belfast boasting a strong and vibrant entrepreneurial culture, a diverse and dynamic business base and most significantly, a highly-skilled and well-educated workforce. The Jobs and Apprenticeship Fair will allow residents the opportunity to take up a new challenge, move to a different sector or even return to the workplace.

“The introduction of the All Age Apprenticeships means these opportunities now extend further than ever before, significantly widening access to skilled jobs across the economy and increasing the supply of skilled labour, which in turn will develop future talent, essential to long term growth for all business.

“The Mid Ulster Jobs and Apprenticeship Fair is a chance to find out more about how to enhance employability and learn about the types of jobs available.”

Careers advice will be available on the day, so attendees are encouraged to bring along an up-to-date CV if possible.
