Cookstown business issued 6-month Restricted Premises Order

A Cookstown business has been banned from selling tobacco products and nicotine inhaling products (including e-cigarettes/vapes) at Dungannon Magistrates Court on Monday 9 December in a case taken by Mid Ulster District Council.

The Court granted a 6-month Restricted Premises Order against  ‘Mr Vapour’ of Orritor Road, Cookstown, following a number of disposable vape sales to persons under the age of 18, witnessed by Council and PSNI officers on three separate occasions.

It is illegal for a retailer to sell either tobacco products or nicotine inhaling products (including e-cigarettes/vapes) to anyone under the age of 18.

This is the first case for a Restricted Premises Order taken by the Council, and we would advise any retailers selling tobacco products or nicotine inhaling products to ensure all staff are trained regarding age restricted sales.

Test purchasing of age restricted products is ongoing throughout the year.
